3 Smart Home Features You'll Want Professionally Installed

by Louise Gomez

Have you always wanted a smart home but are not quite sure how to get everything set up on your own? If so, know that this is a job that you can leave to the professionals to get it done right. Here are a few smart home features that you can add to your home.

Voice Control

If you will be putting smart home features into your home, the first thing that you'll want to have is voice control over these features. The technology is here where you can actually control devices with your voice, but it requires a setup of having the right speakers, microphones, and digital assistants in place to make it all work. You can work with your smart home service provider to let them know if there are any voice assistants you currently use or ask for their advice to find the best one for the job. This will be the key to making everything come together in the end.

Smart Lighting

There are a few elements to smart lighting to make your whole home work. Light switches will need to be swapped out to ones that connect via WiFi, which will allow your digital assistant to turn those overhead lights on and off. Lamps will need to be plugged into a special switch rather than directly to an outlet, which allows lamps to be toggled on and off by your digital assistant. If a light can't have either of these options, it is possible to put a smart light bulb into the socket so that the light can be controlled.

From here, individual zones can be created based on the room, floor, or any special grouping that you desire. For example, you can give a simple voice command as you are heading to the bedroom at the end of the day that will turn off all the lights in your home.

Smart Doorbell

One of the latest trends in home security is to use a smart doorbell to let homeowners know who is at their door. The doorbell has a camera on it that is motion-activated and will record anybody that walks up to your home. It also allows you to communicate with whoever is at your door through your smartphone, no matter where you are. For example, if someone drops off an item for a delivery and rings the doorbell, you can talk to them over the device and give specific instructions on where to leave the package.

About Me

protecting the things on your property outside of the home

Many homeowners focus their home security systems on the home itself but neglect to cover the other structures on the property and the property itself. Do you have an outbuilding, shed or garage that you use to store things in? Do you put those expensive inflatable decorations out in your lawn each holiday? There are probably several things outside of your home that warrant protection as much as the things that you keep inside of your home. This blog will show you the security measures that you can take to ensure that everything on your property is protected as best as it can be.
